Creative programming is a core part of the Junior experience for campers ages 8–10, with a wide range of arts and enrichment activities built into each week. Campers spend time in air-conditioned classrooms working with experienced instructors in areas such as Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature Studies, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and Camper vs. Wild–style challenges. Each child is scheduled to participate in these creative activities at least once per week, giving them regular opportunities to explore new interests beyond athletics.
A major focus of the summer is Showcrest, Oak Crest Day Camp’s annual Dance and Drama production held during the sixth week of camp. Junior Girl groups learn and perform a choreographed dance routine that is presented on a professional stage with full sound and lighting at a local venue. Families near Martinsville, NJ value this experience because it helps campers build confidence, teamwork, and performance skills while being part of a structured, memorable event close to home.
