Senior campers ages 10 to 12 can test their strength, balance, and focus through supervised climbing and ropes activities. At Oak Crest Day Camp, each camper is encouraged to set personal goals, move at a comfortable pace, and attempt new challenges when ready.
The Climbing Tower includes two rock walls with different difficulty levels. Campers can begin with a manageable route and progress to more demanding climbs as their skills and confidence improve. Staff teach proper climbing techniques, explain how to use the equipment, and guide campers through each step.
Additional elements include the Giant Swing, a 200-yard Zipline, the Giant Cargo Net, and Jacob’s Ladder. Each activity presents a different challenge. Campers may need to coordinate their movements, maintain balance, communicate with a partner, or work through uncertainty before completing an element.
The High Ropes course gives senior campers access to elevated climbing areas and suspended obstacles. These activities require concentration, planning, and controlled movement. Campers remain secured in safety equipment while trained staff supervise from start to finish.
The High Ropes Confidence Course adds more mid-air challenges to the program. Campers must decide how to move through each obstacle, adjust their approach when needed, and trust the equipment and staff supporting them. The goal is not to complete every challenge quickly. Campers are encouraged to make steady progress and recognize what they can accomplish through patience and effort.
All climbing and ropes activities are led by trained, certified staff members. Equipment is inspected each day before use, and both courses are certified annually by their original builders to confirm that they meet current safety standards.
Oak Crest Day Camp provides older campers with a structured way to take on physical challenges, practice problem-solving, and build confidence under close supervision.
