Senior campers ages 10 to 12 are offered structured opportunities to take on physical challenges that support independence and skill development. The climbing and ropes areas include multiple elements designed for older campers who are ready to set goals, build coordination, and work through activities at their own pace.
The Climbing Tower features two rock walls with different difficulty levels, a Giant Swing, a 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, and Jacob’s Ladder. Campers participate only when they feel ready and receive guidance to move through each challenge safely.
The High Ropes Course adds elevated rock climbing and balance-based elements that require focus and problem solving. The newer High Ropes Confidence Course expands these options with additional mid-air obstacles that help campers learn trust and persistence while fully secured in harnesses.
All climbing and ropes activities are supervised by trained, certified staff. Harnesses, helmets, and other equipment are checked daily, and both courses are inspected and certified each year to meet current safety requirements.
For families near Watchung, NJ, Oak Crest Day Camp provides a structured way for older campers to push themselves physically, learn how to handle challenges responsibly, and gain confidence through safe, supported adventure activities.
