The LIT Experience
The LIT Experience is a focused leadership program for teens ages 16–17 who are ready to build practical skills and take on meaningful responsibilities. Participants learn how to communicate effectively, collaborate with peers, and make a positive impact in their communities through guided, real-world activities.
Hosted by Oak Crest Day Camp, the program takes place near West Windsor, NJ, providing a setting that supports hands-on learning and structured mentorship. Teens finish the summer with increased confidence and a clearer understanding of how to lead with purpose—skills they can continue to use throughout high school and beyond.
Our teen leadership program at Oak Crest Day Camp is built to help participants understand what success looks like as they grow and take on new responsibilities. Instead of simply attending camp, teens learn how to solve problems, support younger campers, and work effectively as part of a team. These skills are introduced through structured activities that encourage clear communication, responsible decision-making, and positive role modeling.
The program takes place near West Windsor, NJ, giving teens access to a setting that supports hands-on learning and guided leadership opportunities. By the end of the summer, participants gain practical experience that strengthens their confidence and prepares them for responsibilities both inside and outside camp.
Teens in the Oak Crest Day Camp leadership program take on real responsibilities that prepare them for future roles both at camp and beyond. Along the way, they build practical skills that are useful for college applications, part-time jobs, and the early stages of their career path.

As an LIT at Oak Crest Day Camp, teens take part in an overnight trip and gain experience by working closely with different camper groups throughout the summer. They participate in structured Staff Training that teaches communication, group management, and safety skills. Each day includes direct support from the LIT Director, along with weekly meetings that help teens work through challenges and learn practical strategies they can apply in real situations.
This leadership program is designed for 16–17-year-olds and takes place near West Windsor, NJ, offering a setting where teens can develop responsibility, build confidence, and form meaningful friendships while preparing for future leadership roles.
Program Includes
- Commitment to 6, 7 or 8 weeks employment as LIT
- Complete LIT training including formal weekly meeting and ongoing job supervision
- LIT salary and potential for added gratuities from parents
- Transportation to and from camp
