The LIT Experience
Join us at Oak Crest Day Camp for the LIT Experience, a hands-on leadership program designed for teens ages 16–17. This program helps young leaders strengthen their communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills while learning how to make a meaningful difference in their communities. Through guided projects and mentorship, participants gain real-world experience that prepares them for future opportunities—whether in school, work, or service.
The program takes place near Westfield, NJ, offering a safe and supportive setting where teens can grow in confidence and develop practical leadership abilities they’ll carry beyond the summer.
At Oak Crest Day Camp, we focus on helping teens define what success truly means as they grow into young adults. Our Leadership in Training (LIT) program gives participants the tools to build confidence, take initiative, and develop the practical skills needed to lead others. Through structured activities and real-world challenges, teens learn how to solve problems, communicate effectively, and serve as positive role models for younger campers.
Located near Westfield, NJ, Oak Crest provides a supportive environment where teens can practice responsibility, teamwork, and leadership in action—skills that will guide them through school, future jobs, and everyday life.
Teens in the Leadership in Training program gain hands-on experience by taking on real responsibilities that build independence and confidence. Participants assist staff, lead activities, and learn what it means to be a dependable member of a team.
The program focuses on developing practical skills—organization, communication, and leadership—that prepare teens for college and their first jobs. Located near Westfield, NJ, Oak Crest Day Camp provides a supportive setting where young leaders grow through experience and responsibility.
As an LIT at Oak Crest Day Camp, teens gain real-world leadership experience by working alongside different camper groups and participating in our structured Staff Training program. The experience includes a supervised overnight trip that helps participants build independence, teamwork, and responsibility in a supportive environment.
Throughout the summer, each LIT receives consistent guidance from the LIT Director, including daily feedback and weekly check-ins focused on communication, problem-solving, and leadership growth.
Located near Westfield, NJ, Oak Crest offers 16–17-year-olds a meaningful way to develop leadership skills, build lasting friendships, and prepare for future opportunities in and beyond the workplace.
Program Includes
- Commitment to 6, 7 or 8 weeks employment as LIT
- Complete LIT training including formal weekly meeting and ongoing job supervision
- LIT salary and potential for added gratuities from parents
- Transportation to and from camp
